The Undeniable Relationship between Yoga and Your Health
Without a doubt, many of us would do whatever it takes to have a better state of health. This is in line with the assertion that our health is our wealth, which makes it critical to do what it takes to maintain a healthier body. Proper diet, of course, is one of the best ways to be healthy. Diet, however, will not be enough if it is not complemented with exercise, such as in the case of yoga. Yoga and Cardiovascular Health
Many studies in the past have proven the positive link between yoga and maintaining a healthy cardiovascular system. Some of the possible benefits of yoga for cardiovascular health include the following: reduction of high blood pressure, improving cardiac rehabilitation, preventing the symptoms of heart failure, and easing palpitations. There are also some yoga routines that are aerobic by nature, which makes them highly effective in cardiovascular conditioning, increasing the endurance of the heart, and improving the uptake of oxygen.
Yoga and Mental Health
This is perhaps one of the most publicized health benefits of yoga and a major reason on why many people are being hooked with such. In fact, there are some schools of yoga focusing on its therapeutic effect, especially with regards to how it enhances mental health. In one study from the Duke University School of Medicine, it has been revealed how yoga can be a promising treatment for people who are suffering from mental illnesses. In the said study, the results specifically pointed out to how yoga is helpful in the treatment of mild depression, ADHD, and schizophrenia, among others.
Yoga and Physical Health
Just like in the case of how yoga is good for the brain, it has also gained a reputation for its benefits on your physical health. For instance, because of the different poses you are supposed to do during yoga session, you are expected to have better posture. It allows you to strengthen your core, which will also make you look more confident when you are seated or standing. Because you will be required to move your muscles, it is also known for being able to improve flexibility, and hence, allowing you to move with ease. There are also different yoga styles, such as power yoga and ashtanga, which are known for improving muscle tone, and hence, giving you better strength and endurance. Some parts of the body targeted with specific poses include the abs, lower back, hamstrings, and quadriceps.
